The Critically Endangered: Amur Leopard
Other Names: Far East Leopard, Siberian Leopard
Population: Only 25 to 34 known individuals remain. Out of these cats, only 6 are female. Typically, at least 100 individuals of a species are needed to avoid extinction.
Size: 55 to 130 pounds
Habitat: Currently known individuals reside in the mountains of southern Russia.
Diet: Carnivore. The diet typically consists of sika deer, roe, badgers, hares and small rodents.
Threats: Habitat destruction and the fur trade
Interesting Fact: The Amur Leopard has longer fur than other leopards, measuring about 2.5 cm in the winter to adapt for living in a cold climate.
